2018 Nissan Kicks vs. 2017 Nissan Juke

The Juke debuted in 2010 as a crossover for Nissan. Since then, it has been a crossover with a unique style and a fun and powerful engine. However, Nissan is rolling out the 2018 Nissan Kicks, which will take the place of the Nissan Juke.

It's time to take a closer look at these vehicles to see what new changes and decisions Nissan made when they decided to replace the Juke with the all-new 2018 Nissan Kicks. Below, we will look at the a size comparison, the styling differences, performance differences and the different features on both of these vehicles.

Check out what the 2018 Nissan Kicks and the 2017 Nissan Juke have to offer!

Interior and Exterior Size Comparison

The 2018 Nissan Kicks is 169.1 inches in length, 62.4 inches in height and 69.3 inches in width. The Nissan Juke has a length of 162.4 inches, a height of 61.8 inches and a width of 69.5 inches. This means the Kicks is about 7 inches longer than the Juke.

The Nissan Kicks gives you 25.3 cubic feet of cargo space, which is impressive for a vehicle its size. The 2017 Nissan Juke, on the other hand, has just 10.5 cubic feet of cargo space.

When Nissan looked to replace the Juke, it is pretty clear they wanted to offer more space. Not only is the Kicks bigger than the Juke, but it offers over twice the amount of cargo space, so it is ready for your next adventure.

Styling Differences

The Nissan Juke was well-known for its quirky style, is the Kicks similar or does it have a style all its own? Let's take a look.

The 2018 Nissan Kicks has boomerang headlights and a tall V-Motion grille. It also has bold lines on the hood. The Kicks gives you a pretty conventional roofline and the vehicle appears tall and upright. The Kicks has a squarish shape and traditional taillights.

On the other hand, the Nissan Juke has vertical oriented lamps that are high up on the hood. It also has a small grille and round headlights. The Juke's roof slopes downward to give it a unique angle as it heads toward the rear window. The Juke also features unique window-mounted handles for the rear doors.

These vehicles do look slightly similar, but there are also some key differences. The Kicks appears taller and more square-shaped, while the Juke seems rounder and it has more unique looking headlights and taillights. Which style do you like better?

Performance Comparison

Next, let's take a look at the performance of these two vehicles. For the 2018 Nissan Kicks, you only have one engine option. It will be a 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine that gives you 125-horsepower and 115 pound-feet of torque. However, for added performance, you get features like traction control, hill assist, vehicle dynamic control and more.

The standard engine in the 2017 Nissan Juke is the turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine that gives you 188-horsepower. This powertrain also comes with CVT and front wheel drive. If you decide you want a bit more firepower, you can upgrade to the Juke NISMO RS which gives you a more powerful version of the standard engine. This engine will give you up to 215-horsepower.

As far as performance goes, these two vehicles do have some significant differences. The Nissan Kicks decided to go with a less powerful engine than that of the Juke, and they aren't offering an upgraded engine for more horsepower like the Juke NISMO RS does.

Features Comparison

The 2018 Nissan Kicks has three trim level options, each of which give you slightly different features. The first is the Kicks S. This trim gives you Bluetooth and three USB ports. You will also get a backup camera and automated emergency braking standard.

The next level up is the SV trim. This trim gives you a 7-inch infotainment system, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and a remote start engine. For safety, the SV also gives you Rear Cross Traffic Alert. The SR is your highest trim option, and this will give you luxury features like a leather-wrapped steering wheel, a leather shift knob, SR seat fabric and a 360-degree camera.

The pricing of the Nissan Kicks has not officially been announced yet, so we will have to wait to compare prices, but Nissan has said the base trim will be priced at under $19,000, so that is something to look out for!

The 2017 Nissan Juke has five different trim options. These include the base model, SV, SL, NISMO and NISMO RS. The base model starts off at a price of $20,250 and it gives you standard features include a 5-inch color touchscreen display, Bluetooth, a USB port, Siri Eyes Free, a rearview camera and more.

The SV costs $22,550 and it adds on a moonroof, heated front seats, and selectable driving modes. You can also add the Tech package for $1,490 to the SV to get an upgraded touchscreen and navigation. The 2017 SL gives you all the features in the Tech package standard as well as leather seats. All of this will cost you $25,240.

The Juke NISMO is priced at $24,830 and it has steering, suspension and exterior design upgrades as well as adding sport seats. Finally, you have the NISMO RS which gives you a more powerful version of the engine as well as sport brakes, a tuned exhaust and more. You can get the NISMO RS for $28,020.

Overall, for features, it looks like the Nissan Kicks stepped up its game with technology including a larger touchscreen and more safety features. Nissan clearly wanted to do some of those upgrades for this all-new vehicle. However, the Kicks doesn't have the performance option that the Juke does with the NISMO RS.

These are both great options for a small crossover vehicle. The Kicks and the Juke both have unique aspects that make them worth the buy. You simply have to decide which one is best for you. If you are looking for more cargo space, you might want the 2018 Nissan Kicks. If you want a more powerful engine, the 2017 Nissan Juke is a good option. Also, both of these vehicles have great features standard and available, but the Kicks did step up the technology game for 2018.

Now that you've taken a look at a comparison of the 2018 Nissan Kicks and the 2017 Nissan Juke, you can decide which vehicle is the right one for you!
